Anambra police operatives cautioned against illegal arrest, detention, advised to seek ADR in resolving crisis

Assistant Inspector General of Police in Zone 13, Ukpo, Anambra State, AIG Miller Gajere Dantawaye, has cautioned Nigeria Police Force operatives against indiscriminate arrest and detention of suspects. Dantawaye emphasized that the era of impunity and interference in public matters was coming to an end. During an official visit to the Anambra State Police Command, he warned district police officers (DPOs) against maintaining a dirty environment and treating people with civility.

He stressed that showing respect to members of the public was crucial, as they would reciprocate the behavior they received. Dantawaye urged officers to consider alternative dispute resolution (ADR) methods to resolve crises, rather than resorting to arrests and detentions. He stated that officers would undergo training in various crime prevention areas, including arms handling, intelligence gathering, and investigation procedures.
