All the new audio features on Apple Watch explained

Apple announced several new audio features for the Apple Watch Series 12 and Apple Watch Ultra 4 during their most recent event. These features, which center around Siri's AI capabilities, aim to enhance the user experience by making it easier to interact with their devices through audio.

One of the most notable features is the Sound Recognition function. This tool can detect important sounds like sirens, alarms, and doorbells, alerting the user even if their iPhone is not within reach. This is particularly beneficial for individuals who are hard of hearing or deaf.

Another useful feature is Automatic Music Recognition. This functionality can identify the song playing in the background and display the artist and title in the Smart Stack. This is a great feature for anyone who has struggled to identify a song using Shazam.

Live Rewind is a feature that allows users to double-tap the Digital Crown and receive a transcript of the last 15 seconds of conversation. This can be extremely helpful for catching something missed in a conversation or avoiding awkwardness when forgetting a colleague's name. Once recalled, users can ask Siri for more information or save it to the Siri app. A chime will sound when Live Rewind is accessed, even if the watch is on silent or headphones are being used.

Siri Recap is another new audio feature. When activated, Siri will take notes of conversations throughout the day and generate summaries using Apple Intelligence. These summaries will auto-delete after seven days if not saved, and can be set to only record in certain locations or during particular times of the day. It's important to note that each Audio Intelligence feature is disabled by default and must be opted into individually.

All data collected using Live Rewind or Siri Recap will be encrypted, ensuring no personal information is exposed.

These features are expected to roll out later in the year, and the company promises to provide a thorough review upon testing.
