10-Year-Old Taunsa Hydropower Issue Finally Resolved

A decade-long controversy over reimbursement of feasibility study costs for the 135-megawatt Taunsa Hydropower Project in Punjab has been successfully resolved. China Three Gorges South Asia Investment Ltd. (CSAIL) expressed gratitude to the government for its efforts in finally addressing the long-standing issue. In a letter, CSAIL commended the Special Investment Facilitation Council (SIFC) for its role in coordinating with federal and provincial authorities to bring the matter to a conclusion.

The company noted that this coordination helped revive the issue and enabled the implementation of decisions made by the Government of Punjab.

CSAIL emphasized that this resolution demonstrated how long-standing issues affecting investment projects can be resolved through effective coordination between government institutions. The company added that the development would bolster investor confidence and contribute to Pakistan's investment relationship with China. The Taunsa Hydropower Project, with a planned generation capacity of 135 MW, is situated in Punjab. The resolution of this 10-year-old issue is reported to have first appeared on ProPakistani.
