Cage the Elephant has unveiled their new single "Dying in Reverse," which is set to grace the Munich NFL halftime show alongside football fans on November 15. The rock band is also slated to perform this track on the EA Sports FC 27 soundtrack, released on September 25. Cage's frontman, Matthew Shultz, shared his thoughts on why this song will fit seamlessly into a sports context.

Shultz stated that the band aimed to create a sense of suspended time while writing "Dying in Reverse," making it relatable to both athletes and fans. He explained that certain moments in both settings can become incredibly significant and memorable, ultimately becoming a shared experience etched in time. Shultz added that this sentiment resonates well with sports, as it brings people together to experience something larger than themselves.

"Dying in Reverse" also reflects the current mindset of the band, following their recent signing with Big Loud Rock and the success of their song "Beaches in Tennessee," which became Cage's seventh No. 1 on Billboard's Rock & Alternative Airplay chart. Shultz emphasized the band's desire to stay present, true to their convictions, and sincere in their creative pursuits.

A notable milestone for the band occurred last year when they opened for Oasis during the North American leg of Oasis's Live '25 reunion tour. Shultz admitted that the experience significantly impacted the band and reignited their passion for performing. Following the Munich halftime show, Cage will continue their European tour, starting on February 8 in Berlin and concluding on March 1 in London.
