What to watch: College football Week 2 viewer's guide

Week 2 is upon us and fans are eagerly anticipating one of the most highly-anticipated matchups of the entire season. Ohio State is set to face Texas, which could potentially be the game of the regular season. Last year's game proved to be a key factor in Texas missing the playoffs, and this year's rematch could determine which team moves on to the next stage.

In the early matchups, No. 11 Oklahoma will take on Michigan in Ann Arbor. Michigan's performance in their Week 1 game against Western Michigan was disappointing, which led to Bryce Underwood, their starting quarterback, facing intense scrutiny and being dropped from the No. 16 preseason poll. Oklahoma had a dominant Week 1 performance against UTEP, allowing fewer than 200 total yards and forcing two fumbles. For Michigan to have any hope of winning, their offense will need to vastly improve from their Week 1 showing.

Arizona faces No. 15 BYU in a high-stakes game. Arizona's defense was impressive in Week 1 against Northern Arizona, with five sacks and 11 tackles for loss. BYU has a strong defense as well, but their offense will be tested by Arizona in the upcoming matchup. BYU's quarterback, Bear Bachmeier, had a breakout performance against Utah Tech in Week 1, but his sophomore leap as a passer will be crucial in determining the team's potential in 2026.

Texas Tech and BYU are considered the favorites to make the Big 12 title game, with Arizona right behind them.

Alabama is facing Kentucky in their third consecutive Week 2 game against an SEC opponent. Kentucky bounced back from a Week 1 blowout against Youngstown State, jumping out to an impressive 28-0 lead. Kenny Minchey had a standout performance, completing 18-of-27 passes for 301 yards and four touchdowns. As for Alabama, they showed some improvement in their run game against East Carolina, rushing for five touchdowns and 227 yards. Under new coach Will Stein, the Wildcats hope to avoid going 0-3 in Week 2 SEC matchups.
