U2 Named MusiCares 2027 Persons of the Year

U2 have been selected as MusiCares' 2027 Persons of the Year, to be honored in a gala and possible star-studded concert on February 5, 2027, just two days before the Grammys. Bono, the Edge, Adam Clayton, and Larry Mullen Jr. will receive the prestigious recognition. The band expressed their admiration for MusiCares in a statement, stating that they've been recording and touring for 50 years due to the support provided by the organization to the vast talent pool in the music industry, including producers, engineers, carpenters, and riggers.

U2 credits their audience as the main reason they've been able to continue making music and addressing issues close to their hearts. Executive Director Theresa Wolters commended U2 for showcasing the power of music to unite people, raise awareness of critical needs, and motivate action throughout their career. This year, U2 have remained active, releasing two new EPs, covering the Pogues, and premiering a song from their upcoming, yet-untitled studio album.
