Three suspects arrested in Alam Megah murder case, police thank public for vital leads

Three of seven suspects in the Alam Megah murder case have been arrested by the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) in Shah Alam, according to Datuk Shazeli Kahar, the Selangor police chief. The arrests took place between September 4 and 7 after public assistance, as their photographs were made public on September 1. The suspects, all aged between 20 and 40, are all locals.

The remaining four suspects are still at large. The police have charged the three suspects and will seek to prosecute them under Sections 28 and 149 of the Penal Code. Shazeli expressed gratitude to the public and media for their assistance in facilitating the arrests. There is a separate case being investigated under Section 148 of the Penal Code for rioting in Taman Sri Muda on August 13, for which no arrests have been made yet.

The incident at Taman Alam Megah, where a man died, was allegedly the result of a turf war between two secret societies. Shazeli also commented on the public's calls for a new police station in Puncak Alam, stating that the decision to build a new police station depends on various factors, including population density, economic activity, and crime trends.

The police have increased patrols and security measures in the area to prevent criminal activities, through their Narcotics Criminal Investigation Department (NCID) and patrol squads.
