‘South Park’ Creators Apologize for Delay of Untitled Kendrick Lamar Movie

South Park creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone have apologized for the delay in completing their untitled movie featuring Kendrick Lamar. In a statement to The Ankler, the duo admitted full responsibility for the setback and expressed their gratitude for the patience shown by their partners at pgLang and Paramount. Parker and Stone acknowledged that both the show and life circumstances have contributed to the delay, but they remain committed to the project.

The Grammy-winning rapper, known for his acclaimed albums like "To Pimp a Butterfly" and "Damn," is also the only musician outside the classical and jazz genres to have won the Pulitzer Prize for Music. His film work includes curating and producing "Black Panther: The Album," the accompanying record to Ryan Coogler's 2018 blockbuster.

Currently, the film does not have a confirmed release date. The script, titled "Whitney Springs," was written by Vernon Chatman. The movie, described as an "original live-action comedy," is currently in the works with Kendrick Lamar and Dave Free as producers through their company pgLang, while Parker and Stone are producing for Park County.

This will mark the first feature from the veteran duo in over two decades, following their 2004 "Team America: World Police" and the Oscar-nominated 1999 "South Park" film "Bigger, Longer & Uncut."
