Seoul Forest hosts nighttime traditional Korean music concerts

Seoul Forest is hosting a series of free traditional Korean music concerts this fall, providing a peaceful contrast to the bustling city. These Heritage Garden Rest Concerts will take place every Friday and Saturday for over six weeks, concluding on October 24. The concerts are held at the K-Heritage Garden, which is currently the site of the Seoul International Garden Fair.

The Friday evening performances will start at 6:30 p.m. in September, transitioning to a 6 p.m. start from October. These shows feature a mix of fusion gugak, a contemporary take on traditional Korean music, designed to provide a relaxing conclusion to the workweek. On Saturdays, performances begin at 3 p.m., with a focus on creating an enjoyable cultural experience for families, couples, and visitors of all ages.

The Saturday concerts will showcase folk songs and traditional Korean music, transforming a stroll through the garden into an engaging cultural outing.

The concerts aim to highlight the K-Heritage Garden, a unique demonstration of modular traditional garden design and a place for rest and relaxation. By presenting these performances, organizers hope to make the garden more accessible to the public and showcase its cultural significance. The music will be performed by Bidan, a fusion gugak group associated with a cultural arts planning company that is designated as a national heritage society.
