Senegal refinery seeks stronger partnership with Sahara

Société Africaine de Raffinage, Senegal's national refinery, has been working to bolster its partnership with Sahara Group as the nation grapples with energy supply issues and seeks to bolster energy security. During a recent meeting between Senegal's President Bassirou Faye and a delegation from Sahara Group headed by Executive Director Wale Ajibade at the Presidential Palace in Dakar, the refinery's Managing Director, Mamadou Diop, highlighted the collaborative efforts between Sahara and SAR.

The discussions centered on bolstering Senegal's energy requirements amidst challenging global market conditions.

President Faye expressed gratitude for Sahara's long-standing relationship with the refinery and its unwavering support for Senegal's energy sector, describing Sahara as a reliable and trusted partner. "We appreciate Sahara's dynamism, flexibility, and constructive partnership with SAR, especially its role in helping secure the country's energy needs despite market challenges," President Faye added.

Ajibade affirmed Sahara's continued commitment to bolstering Senegal's energy security and economic development. He noted that Senegal has remained a significant ally for the group, and the company remains eager to leverage its expertise, infrastructure, and operational experience to further the nation's energy ambitions. "Senegal has been an important partner for Sahara over the years, and we are committed to deploying our resources to support the country's energy objectives," Ajibade stated.

Diop acknowledged Sahara's substantial investments in Senegal over the years and the company's continued role as a dependable partner. He emphasized the refinery's focus on strengthening collaboration with Sahara to provide Senegal with greater flexibility in addressing energy sector needs. Diop added that Sahara has consistently supported SAR's crude oil supply requirements and remains actively involved in navigating market challenges with Senegalese stakeholders.
