Reject cultism, drug abuse, cybercrime – Ogun PPRO charges students

The Police Public Relations Officer for Ogun State Police Command, DSP Oluseyi Babaseyi, urged Nigerian students to avoid cultism, drug abuse, violence and cybercrime, emphasizing that their choices today will shape the nation's future. At the 45th Students Parliament Council Summit in Abeokuta, Babaseyi highlighted that the campus is a training ground for leadership, citizenship, and responsible participation in society.

He described students as crucial stakeholders in national security, stressing that it is a collective responsibility involving government, communities, families, and citizens. Babaseyi cautioned against cultism, drug abuse, political thuggery, and other criminal activities that can ruin their futures, explaining that cultism stems from low self-esteem, insecurity, and a desire for validation.

He advised students to reject such activities, emphasizing true strength lies in self-confidence, discipline, character, and independence. Babaseyi also cautioned students about the impact of social media, urging them to think before posting, verify before sharing, and refrain from spreading rumors, hate, or unverified information.

He called for peaceful political participation ahead of the 2027 general elections and emphasized the Nigeria Police Force's commitment to protecting lives and property. Babaseyi urged students to cooperate with the police, report suspicious activities, and maintain peace within their communities, stating that the future they desire begins with the choices they make today.
