Raumfahrt: Reflex baut Satelliten für amerikanisches KI-Datenzentrum im All

Berlin-based satellite startup Reflex Aerospace has secured its first contract from the United States. The company is tasked with designing a satellite to be part of a massive data processing center in space. Reflex Aerospace, based in Berlin, aims to complete a prototype by the end of 2027, capable of operating at a peak power of up to 250 kilowatts.

If all goes according to plan, production could begin in the United States in 2028. Walter Ballheimer, co-founder and CEO of Reflex Aerospace, explains, "We're not building standard satellites; we tackle very difficult problems and develop custom solutions. And I believe we have relatively quickly established ourselves against others in this way."

Andreessen Horowitz has invested in Reflex Aerospace. Orbital, the US startup, was founded just a few months ago. Its founder is Euwyn Poon, who previously launched a company for electric scooters and sold it to Ford in 2018. Orbital received its seed funding from "16z speedrun," the early-stage fund of the renowned venture capital firm Andreessen Horowitz, in the past April.
