QIA invests in Positron AI’s Series C financing

The Qatar Investment Authority (QIA) has announced its involvement in a $875 million Series C financing round for Positron AI, a company focused on developing AI inference hardware. The financing round, co-led by NEA, Atreides Management, Valor Equity Partners, Andra Capital, Jim Clark, founder of Silicon Graphics, and Netscape, values Positron AI at $5 billion. QIA also participated in Positron AI’s previous Series B funding round in February 2026.

Positron AI specializes in creating hardware and software solutions to make AI inference, the process of running trained AI models, more efficient in terms of cost and energy consumption. The growing demand for AI agents, assistants, and copilots is putting pressure on memory capacity, memory bandwidth, and power requirements in inference infrastructure.

Positron AI's memory-first architecture aims to tackle these challenges by reducing reliance on scarce High Bandwidth Memory and Chip-on-Wafer-on-Substrate supply chains, making deployment possible in both air-cooled and liquid-cooled data centers.

The fresh financing will support Positron AI's development and commercialization of its next-generation technology, including the tapeout of Asimov, its upcoming silicon, and the production ramp-up of Titan, its multi-terabyte-memory inference system. As AI inference plays an increasingly crucial role in the global technology infrastructure, QIA's investment demonstrates its ongoing commitment to supporting innovative companies driving the next stage of AI adoption and long-term growth.
