Prinsip harus kekal bukan ubah ikut angin politik, kata Salleh

Veteran Umno politician from Sabah, Salleh Said Keruak, has stated that while political affiliations and alliances may change with the shifting winds of political winds, core principles must remain steadfast as a guiding compass. In Petaling Jaya, Keruak explained that political alignments can shift as circumstances evolve, and today's adversaries might become allies tomorrow, while yesterday's principles could become today's sources of discomfort.

He elaborated on this idea, often referencing the four P's of politics: politics, the party, principles, and personality. Politics determines strategy, parties offer justification, principles provide a rallying cry to the public, and personal interests sometimes offer the most genuine explanations, according to Keruak, as shared through a Facebook post.

He emphasized that while politics requires flexibility and compromise, flexibility in strategy is not the same as flexibility in principles. Keruak also stated that when it's appropriate, cooperation can be referred to as mature politics, while competition can be defended in the name of principles. He noted that both can be justified, but ultimately, the key question is not simply who is right or wrong but what truly determines today's outcome.
