PlayStation's online heist game, Fairgames, appears to have resurfaced with its first gameplay footage, a new codename, and invitations for a private playtest. Initially announced three years ago, the competitive heist game has faced numerous development challenges, such as the departure of studio founder Jade Raymond and creative director Daniel Drapeau, after concerns arose from internal playtests.

The game's status remained relatively unknown until recently, but it has resurfaced under the codename Project Espresso. The listing on Player.gg, a platform connecting developers with players for playtesting, includes a gameplay trailer that closely resembles Fairgames. The game will be developed for PS5 and PC, with a requirement for a PlayStation account to participate.

This unexpected revival has sparked curiosity as to whether Fairgames can overcome past issues and capture the interest of players amidst Sony's current turmoil with live service games.
