Pengendali helikopter gantung pesawat susulan nahas BO-105

CAAM CEO Norazman Mahmud clarified that his company is voluntarily grounding the BO-105 helicopter and other aircraft equipped with the Rolls-Royce 250 turboshaft engine near the STOLport Long Lellang in Sarawak. Norazman stated that the grounding is a precautionary safety measure taken by the controllers, not an indication of an accident caused by engine or technical failure.

According to the available records, the airworthiness certificate of the BO-105 helicopter remains valid until August 4, 2027, while its registration certificate is valid until July 28, 2029. Norazman emphasized that the age of the aircraft alone is not a determinant of flight safety, as long as it is properly maintained and complies with the established aviation standards.

CAAM is monitoring the grounding process and controller inspections, in addition to reviewing the aircraft's registration, controller records, and crew qualifications. An independent investigation into the incident is being led by the Accident Investigation Bureau under the Ministry of Transport following their participation in the Malaysia Aviation Safety Conference 2026.

Norazman assured that CAAM is providing full cooperation and has submitted all relevant documents to assist the investigation. He advised all parties not to speculate on the cause of the incident, whether it is due to technical failure, weather conditions, or human error, emphasizing that any final decisions will only be made by the BSKU.
