Mula rundingan Umno-PAS sekarang jika mahu bekerjasama di Perak, kata perwakilan

Pemuda Umno Perak has urged that discussions about potential political cooperation between Umno and PAS in Perak should begin immediately, rather than waiting for the Dewan Undangan Negeri (DUN) to be dissolved, according to a representative. Ibnu Rasyeed Mat Isa emphasized that the 15th general election results in Perak showed that seats previously seen as difficult to win are not necessarily unattainable, and candidates may also lose seats considered safe.

He stressed that strategies should be employed rather than nostalgia when approaching elections, stating this during the Umno Youth Central Committee's 2026 opening speech. The representative suggested that consultations should commence sooner, not after the DUN is dissolved, and should be based on electoral records, strength of the political base, diversity, and winnable opportunities, rather than ego.

He proposed three categories of seats to consider: safe seats to defend, contested seats for debate, and strategically winnable seats through cooperation. Ibnu Rasyeed highlighted that Umno should not demand a perfectly even 50-50 seat distribution simply because it looks appealing on paper. He drew attention to the PRN (Pertubuhan Rakyat Nasional) results, which showed the Barisan Nasional winning nine seats compared to the 26 seats gained by the Perikatan Nasional and the 24 seats won by Pakatan Harapan.

He noted that no merger can secure a majority to form a standalone state government, and thus, BN and PH cannot jointly form a state government at this time.
