Marvel’s ‘X-Men’ Reboot Casts ‘Gen V’ Star Asa Germann as Angel

Marvel Studios has announced that Asa Germann will be starring as Angel in their upcoming X-Men movie. Germann, 28, is a relatively young addition to the cast, joining alongside younger actors such as Sadie Sink (24), Maya Boyd (23), and Inde Navarrette (25). Other confirmed cast members include Samara Weaving as Emma Frost, Christopher Abbott as Charles Xavier, and Adam Driver as the villain Mister Sinister.

Germann had initially auditioned for the role of Cyclops, but Marvel was impressed enough to cast him as Angel instead. Germann is no stranger to superhero roles, having played Sam Riordan in The Boys spinoff Gen V. Angel's powers are avian-based, featuring wings that allow him to fly, among other abilities. The character first appeared in the 1963 comic X-Men #1 and has since been a key member of the X-Men team.

Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige teased that the new cast will be a part of "sagas upon sagas" of untold X-Men stories, given the character's rich history in comic book lore.
