Streaming enthusiasts will recognize Apple TV as a source of consistently high-caliber content, and its newest Australian thriller, Last Seen, offers precisely that. Adapted from Ryan David Jahn's novel The Dispatcher, the series follows emergency dispatcher and secret alcoholic Ian Ridley (Patrick Brammall). He receives a call about a body discovered near his residence, which he suspects could be his missing daughter who went missing 11 years ago.

The adaptation deviates from the book in that it now unfolds in Australia instead of Texas. Despite this, the narrative promises an endless array of twists and turns.

Brammall, who portrays Ian Ridley, teases that the show "is not black and white." Ian is motivated by an altruistic focus, but his efforts are marred by hope, guilt, and the failures he's witnessed. Sarah (Chloe Jean Lourdes), the second character introduced, starts happy, but the line between good and bad blurs as the series progresses.

As Brammall explains, "you can sort of see that Ian and Henry (Brendan Cowell) are two sides of the same coin."
