High Court to hear additional evidence in Rosmah’s case on Sept 17

The High Court has scheduled a hearing on September 17 to consider additional evidence in Rosmah Mansor's RM1.25 billion solar hybrid project corruption case. The decision comes after the Court of Appeal allowed Rosmah to introduce fresh evidence from the 16th prosecution witness, Rayyan Radzwill Abdullah. A three-member panel of Justices Azhahari Kamal Ramli, Choo Kah Sing, and K Muniandy directed that the new evidence be recorded within two weeks of today's case management. The panel also ordered that Rayyan's evidence undergo further cross-examination and re-examination.

Rosmah's legal team argued that the material would demonstrate Rayyan was pressured during the trial, compromising his testimony against her. Deputy public prosecutor Deepa Nair Thevaharan informed the court that the prosecution is appealing the Court of Appeal's decision to the Federal Court, and filed a stay application on September 8 to halt the proceedings pending the matter's resolution.

Rosmah's counsel Akberdin Abdul Kader pointed out that the Court of Appeal's order stipulated the matter should be resolved within two weeks of today's hearing, and refused to halt the proceedings. If a stay is granted, the court will follow the appellate court's order, but if not, proceedings will proceed as directed by the Court of Appeal.
