‘Pregnant influencer burnt after argument’: Twist in Manjit Kaur murder case

The murder investigation of Punjabi influencer Manjit Kaur has taken a new turn with the arrest of Parmider Singh, also known as Pinda, a close associate of the main accused Rinku. Kaur was set on fire on July 3, two weeks after her death, and two months ago. Pinda, 25, has confessed to the police that Rinku and Kaur were in a relationship.

According to Pinda, the argument between Rinku and Kaur took place in Sector 34 of Chandigarh, leading to a scuffle, assault, and ultimately Kaur's immolation. The police are now investigating the details of Pinda's statement to corroborate it with forensic and technical evidence. Earlier, it was believed that Kaur was abducted from Sector 34, taken to a forested area near Morinda, tied to a tree, and set ablaze.

However, the latest leads from Pinda's arrest have prompted the investigators to reconsider this earlier theory. Pinda had been working as Rinku’s driver days before the incident and runs an immigration business in Kharar. Rinku, the primary suspect, remains at large. Kaur's autopsy revealed she was seven weeks pregnant, and the police are now looking into whether her pregnancy and issues related to the unborn child played a role in the argument.

The identity of the child's father is expected to be established through DNA examination. Police teams are conducting raids to apprehend Rinku, and Pinda has been transferred to a four-day custody.
