France's Epstein probe identifies 'potential recruiters'

The French investigation into alleged human trafficking linked to US sex offender Jeffrey Epstein has identified several potential recruiters, according to Paris prosecutor Laure Beccuau. The probe, which followed the release of new files from the US Justice Department in January, has led authorities to locations including New York, Saint-Tropez, and Cannes. French modelling scout Daniel Siad, who prosecutors say helped Epstein traffic women, was found dead in his home in July before he could be questioned.

Beccuau stated that the case has revealed a "labyrinthine network" and that there are at least 26 identified victims, including eight who need to be questioned as they live abroad. Of these victims, 13 had not previously been implicated in any case. French authorities have previously investigated other figures in the modelling industry, but dropped charges against Gerald Marie due to the statute of limitations.

Marie recently denied any wrongdoing, insisting he always behaved properly with women. In 2020, modelling agent Jean-Luc Brunel was arrested on allegations of procuring women for Epstein but died in prison in 2022.
