Farmer shot dead outside family member’s rented house in Banting

A 52-year-old farmer was fatally shot in front of what appears to be his child's rented home in Teluk Bunut, Banting, on Tuesday night. Selangor police chief Datuk Shazeli Kahar announced that the victim succumbed to his injuries at the scene after receiving multiple gunshot wounds between 10:30 pm and 11 pm. Police learned of the incident at around 11:15 pm and determined that the property was indeed rented by the victim's child and was unoccupied at the time.

The victim reportedly went to the house to check on it, according to Shazeli during a press conference today at the Selangor police contingent headquarters.

The lack of eyewitness accounts and the absence of any weapon at the scene have hindered the investigation. Despite this, police have identified several individuals who they suspect may be connected to the fatal shooting. Shortly after the incident, a local man in his 20s to 30s was apprehended in the Banting area and brought before the court today.

A two-day remand was granted for further investigation into his potential involvement. The police are currently examining whether this individual is the primary suspect or holds a different role in the incident. The case is being handled under Section 302 of the Penal Code.
