Dubai Police deploy AI to make workforce planning smarter

Dubai Police and Digital Dubai have introduced an AI-powered system aimed at refining workforce planning by matching employees' skills with operational needs and recommending the optimal allocation of personnel. This AI-Assisted Shift Management System is designed to expedite, enhance accuracy, and provide data-driven decision-making in shift planning, thereby improving workforce readiness, operational efficiency, and human resource utilization.

The system evaluates operational requirements against employees' capabilities and proposes personnel distribution in accordance with established guidelines. It consolidates workforce planning, implementation, and monitoring, offering decision-makers a real-time overview of staff deployment, coverage levels, and operational readiness.

Developed by Dubai Police in collaboration with Digital Dubai as a registered intellectual property, this technology marks a departure from conventional scheduling in favor of an intelligent workforce management approach capable of proactively adapting to changing operational demands. Major General Dr Saleh Abdullah Murad, Assistant Commander-in-Chief for Administration Affairs at Dubai Police, emphasized that AI is being embraced as a strategic asset to enhance government operations, optimize resource utilization, and empower leaders with data-backed decisions.

The system's integration into Dubai Police's broader operational framework enables seamless planning, implementation, and monitoring, providing a holistic perspective on workforce allocation and readiness. Chief Executive of Digital Dubai, Matar Saeed Al Hemeiri, highlighted that the AI-Assisted Shift Management System represents a pivotal phase in the government's digital metamorphosis, transitioning AI from a mere support tool to an integrated capability that reimagines processes, forecasts requirements, and transforms data into actionable decisions.

Al Hemeiri stressed that the objective transcends mere technology integration to fundamentally restructure work modes, rendering government operations more agile, efficient, and intelligent. The system is accessible through the Smart Employee application, enabling departments and personnel to manage and monitor shift-related activities via a unified interface.

A centralized dashboard provides leaders with a real-time perspective on workforce presence, employee distribution, and coverage across various work locations, supplemented with metrics to evaluate workforce allocation efficiency. Dubai Police aims to expand the utilization of the AI-Assisted Shift Management System across the wider Dubai government sector.

This innovation is part of the Government Resources Planning (GRP) systems managed by Digital Dubai, which supports over 80 government entities through functions such as human resources, payroll, finance, supply chain, and asset management, alongside related digital and smart solutions. The implementation of this system also aligns with Dubai Police's initiative to develop specialized AI agents designed to interface with institutional systems, converting data into informed decisions and actions.
