Charismatic bishops endorse Tinubu For 2027 re-election

The Charismatic Bishops Conference of Nigeria has endorsed President Bola Tinubu for the 2027 presidential election, according to a viral video from the organization's 2026 synod. Archbishop Leonard Bature Kawas, the President-General of the conference, made the announcement, stating that the decision was based on the group's evaluation of Tinubu's administration.

Despite the Muslim-Muslim ticket on which Tinubu contested the 2023 presidential election, Kawas argued that he had not shown nepotism in his appointments and had supported the emergence of Christian governors in Nigeria. He praised the ruling All Progressives Congress for appointing a born-again Christian as the party's national leader.

Kawas emphasized that the bishops would continue to support Tinubu through prayers and advocacy for his development programs. The CBCN President also stated that the organization would continue to stand with Tinubu, even if he seeks re-election in 2027.
