The Bono East Regional Minister, Francis Owusu Antwi, has praised the contractor and consultant responsible for the construction of a new Community Health Planning and Services (CHPS) compound in Akropong, Nkoranza South Municipality. The project, funded by the District Assemblies Common Fund (DACF), aims to replace an existing rented facility that has limited space and amenities.
During an inspection tour of development projects in Nkoranza Municipality, Mr. Antwi commended the team for their "fantastic work" and emphasized that every district and municipality is required to construct two CHPS compounds under the DACF arrangement. The Regional Minister noted that the facility's strategic location would serve students of the proposed Nursing and Midwifery Training College, currently under construction, as well as the surrounding communities.
However, he disclosed that the contractor has surpassed the project's completion date and has been given a one-month ultimatum to finish the work for commissioning. The Assembly Member for the Akropong-Dandwa Electoral Area, Mr. Francis Kyeremeh-Antwi, welcomed the new CHPS compound, stating that it will alleviate congestion at the current rented premises and improve access to healthcare for residents and future nursing trainees once the college is operational.
