Assin Fosu: Family of kidnapped man begs for help as abductors demand GH¢495K after GH¢195K payment

In the remote village of Assin Fosu in Ghana's Central Region, a desperate family is fighting a clock to save their son Bismark Amoh, who has been held captive since Sunday, September 6, 2026. The abductors, who have subjected Bismark to physical abuse, first demanded a ransom of GH¢45,000, given a 24-hour window to comply. To pressure the family, the kidnappers circulated graphic WhatsApp recordings from Bismark's phone, displaying his helpless state - bound, beaten, and forced to endure water being poured over him.

Bismark, in audio messages, cried for his family to raise the necessary funds for his rescue. Relentless in their pursuit of justice, the family garnered GH¢19,500 from relatives, friends, and fellow community members and transferred it to the captors. However, instead of releasing Bismark, the kidnappers raised their demand to GH¢49,500, requesting an immediate additional GH¢30,500 within an urgent eight-hour timeframe.

A new recording emerged from the exchange, with a concealed woman's voice accusing Bismark of allegedly defrauding the individuals implicated in his capture, directly linking the monetary dispute to his maltreatment. The authenticity and motives behind the fraudulent allegations remain unconfirmed by law enforcement. The family reported the incident to the Cybercrime Unit of the Central North Regional Police Command, and authorities have confirmed an extensive search operation alongside the National CID and Police Headquarters Cybercrime Unit.

They are utilizing digital forensics to trace the origins of the WhatsApp transmissions and locate the perpetrators. Police urge anyone with information about Bismark's whereabouts or the identity of his captors to immediately contact their nearest police station.
