Bersatu woes continue as most Arau division leaders resign

Perlis Bersatu is grappling with a wave of resignations from divisional leaders across its Arau division, following the lead of similar exits in Padang Besar and Kangar divisions. This trend of dissent has been triggered by the appointment of Izizam Ibrahim as the head of the state chapter, a move that the affected members claim lacked any consultation with the Perlis Bersatu leadership or local grassroots.

Among those who have stepped down are Arau Bersatu deputy chairman Azrul Azhar Abd Ghani, vice-chief C Sombun, and all members of the division's Wanita and Youth leaderships. Their representative, Roshita Buyong, a committee member, expressed deep dissatisfaction with the sudden appointment, alleging that her concerns were ignored.

This development comes in the wake of the departure of multiple Kangar Bersatu leaders to join opposition leader Hamzah Zainudin's Wawasan party, and precedes a similar chain reaction in Padang Besar Bersatu. The situation follows the recent resignation of Perlis menteri besar Abu Bakar Hamzah from the Bersatu Supreme Council, further complicating the party's internal landscape.
