The Deputy President of Pejuang, Mior Haidir, has rejected the claim that supporting the Malay people means protecting those who commit wrongdoings, while opposing the prosecution of the elected representative does not mean rejecting the legal process. In a statement, Mior questioned the relevance of the prosecution of the elected representative but emphasized that it should not be used as a reason to halt the prosecution or shield any individual.

If there is guilt, investigate and bring charges. If not guilty, provide space for self-defense. The law should operate impartially, without favoring or discriminating against anyone, he added. Mior warned that political cooperation among Malay parties should not be used to shield individuals facing prosecution. If any unity only emerges when pressure intensifies, the public has a right to question whether it truly stems from a genuine desire to unite the nation or is merely a ploy to find an escape from the current difficulties.

The statement was made following recent accusations against several Umno leaders for alleged espionage related to Tabung Haji and Felda. It was also made as Umno and PAS urged Malay unity, with both parties resuming relations after the BN and PN leadership reached an understanding in the PRN Nine state assembly, where they secured a two-thirds majority.

Mior emphasized that Malay unity should not be a temporary shelter during tough times and opened again when the weather clears. He also stated that any effort to unite the Malay people should be built on a broader agenda encompassing economy, education, asset ownership, integrity, governance, and the future of the Malay community, rather than solely protecting the interests of a particular individual or group.

We need a more mature politics; one that can uphold Malay rights without compromising principles, ensure fairness regardless of who is involved, and reject corruption regardless of who commits it, he concluded.
