Youths honour ex-NBA chair, others for community devt

The ASTUC Youth Wing of Anambra State Town Unions Council honored 12 notable figures from Anaocha Local Government Area for their contributions to community development and youth empowerment. The recipients include Jideofor Okongwu, former Chairman of the Nigerian Bar Association Anaocha branch, and other eminent individuals such as Romanus Ibekwe, Chukwudi Oli, Osita Kingsley Ozalagba, Dr Gerald Ikechukwu Ozor, Chisom Ugha, Obiadi Ayodele, Chief Cletus Obianodo, Patrick Onyedum, John Ezeanidike, and Cosmas Eweni.

The award ceremony took place at the Neni Civic Centre, where Okongwu emphasized the importance of discipline, resilience, and hard work in achieving success and contributing positively to society. ASTUC Youth Wing President General, Ken Okoli, highlighted the group's focus on values such as honesty, justice, and community service, and commended the state governor for initiatives supporting youth employment opportunities.

Chairman of the event, Dr Afam Obidike, cautioned youths against the 'get rich quick' mentality, urging them to pursue legitimate avenues for financial success. The event gathered traditional rulers and numerous young people from Anaocha LGA.
