World News Today Live Updates: Iran claims strikes on 2 US vessels, 8 tankers, 10 ships in Gulf, Hormuz

The Revolutionary Guards of Iran reported attacking two US vessels and eight oil tankers in the Gulf, citing a US attack on five Iranian tankers. They also claimed to have sunk another ship attempting to cross a prohibited area of the Strait of Hormuz. In response, the US military reported destroying five Iranian oil tankers in the Gulf of Oman, targeting vessels M/T Kaviz, M/T Charminar, M/T Horizon 1, M/T Riesco, and M/T Derya near Kharg Island.

Jordan's air-defence systems said they downed 18 out of 20 Iranian ballistic missiles launched from Iranian territory, with no casualties reported. US Secretary of State Marco Rubio warned Iran that the US will continue to target Iranian oil tankers in retaliation for any further attacks on US warships.
