Iranian forces have targeted American military assets in Jordan and vessels navigating the Strait of Hormuz, escalating tensions in the ongoing conflict. The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) claimed responsibility for missile strikes on two US warships and a string of oil tankers, alleging extensive damage to the ships. However, these claims have not been independently verified.
The IRGC also issued threats against oil tankers near the ports of Bahrain and Kuwait, regardless of their status. The conflict follows a week of increasing hostilities, beginning with US strikes on Iranian oil tankers. President Trump has implemented a "tanker-for-tanker" policy, which the US claims is in retaliation for Iran's aggression.
The recent attacks highlight the heightened danger in the region, with each side attempting to outmaneuver the other through economic pressure and blockades.
