Why Abia plans tertiary education sports fiesta – Official

Dr. Emeka Enyiazuin, the Chairman of the Abia State Tertiary Education Sports Fiesta (ASTESF) 2026, announced the government-driven initiative aimed at fostering unity and comradeship among the state's youths. The event, which will be held from November 3 to 6, 2026, will bring together students and young athletes from Federal Government-owned, Abia State-owned, and privately-owned tertiary institutions.

According to Enyiazuin, the fiesta will create a unique platform for students to not only compete but also connect and showcase their talents. Beyond the sporting competition, ASTESF will serve as a platform for talent discovery, youth development, and institutional friendship, providing opportunities for young people to harness their sporting potential.

Enyiazuin emphasized that the event will emphasize the values of sportsmanship, discipline, and excellence. He stressed that ASTESF is more than just a sporting competition; it is a means to identify, nurture, and link the sporting potential of students from Abia's tertiary institutions to greater opportunities.

He also highlighted the collaborative spirit of the Central Organizing Committee, which is working diligently to deliver an event that meets high standards of organization, fairness, safety, professionalism, and sportsmanship. Preparations for the fiesta are underway, and ASTESF 2026 is scheduled to feature 26 sporting events.

ASTESF 2026 calls upon the leadership of Federal, State, and private tertiary institutions in Abia to embrace the initiative and encourage their students to actively participate.
