Why Abia plans tertiary education sports fiesta – Official

Dr. Emeka Enyiazuin, the Chairman of the Central Organising Committee for the Abia State Tertiary Education Sports Fiesta (ASTESF) 2026, has stated that the government initiative aims to foster camaraderie and unity among the state's youths. The event will unite tertiary institutions under the Federal Government, Abia State Government, and private proprietors, creating a unique platform for students and young athletes from across Abia to compete, connect, showcase their talents, and celebrate sportsmanship, discipline, and excellence.

ASTESF is not just a sporting competition; it serves as a platform for talent discovery, youth development, institutional friendship, and healthy competition. The initiative aims to identify, nurture, and link the sporting potential of students at Abia's tertiary institutions to greater opportunities. The event, scheduled between November 3 and 6, 2026, will feature approximately 26 sporting events.

The Central Organizing Committee is committed to delivering an event of high organization, fairness, safety, professionalism, and sportsmanship.
