However, before this big announcement, Ternus and the Apple team showcased the iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max. The iPhone announcements concluded there, with no regular iPhone 18 mentioned. Instead of releasing the full lineup of iPhones, as is Apple's September tradition, the tech giant focused on three premium iPhone models. The iPhone 18 Pro starts at $1,199, while the iPhone Duo commences at $1,999. This deviation from the norm may indicate that Apple is intentionally skipping the regular iPhone 18. Rumors had already circulated that Apple was not planning to release the regular iPhone 18 just yet.

The iPhone 18, along with the 18e and a new iPhone Air, are expected to hit the market in March 2027. Therefore, anyone seeking a more affordable iPhone model might have to wait another six months. In the meantime, the iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max will be available for preorder starting September 12, while the iPhone Duo will be available for preorder on October 16. Nevertheless, Apple will still have the iPhone 17 and 17e available for purchase.
