Umno will ensure Malaysia is for all, not just Malays, says Tok Mat

Umno deputy president Mohamad Hasan declared the party a centrist entity for all Malaysians, not just Malays, during the general assemblies of Umno Youth, Wanita Umno, and Puteri Umno wings in Kuala Lumpur. He emphasized the party's commitment to a "homeland for all, prosperous and carefully managed", aligning with the Federal Constitution.

Hasan stressed that Umno must never assume its constituents are solely Malays and must not create concerns among non-Malays or friends in Sabah and Sarawak. He reminded delegates of the importance of securing the confidence of non-Malays and parties in Sabah and Sarawak, as they now hold decisive power in Malaysian politics. Concerns were raised by non-Malays about the country's direction under Malay-Muslim political dominance, to which Hasan responded by reiterating that Umno's ideology is centrism.

He affirmed that the party will always take the middle path, neither leaning left nor right, and will balance ideas from both the left and right as a moderate national party. He also cautioned potential partners against imposing "conservative" or "radical" ideologies on Umno, stating that the party has governed the country for decades with moderate attitudes, policies, positions, and priorities. Any cooperation must accept Umno's moderate, middle-ground approach.
