Umno president urges party to strengthen solidarity, machinery

KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 9 — Umno president Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi emphasized strengthening solidarity, streamlining party machinery, and remaining close to the people at a briefing ahead of the next election. Vice-president Mohamed Khaled Nordin advised party members to remain grateful for recent victories in Johor and Negeri Sembilan without becoming complacent.

He stressed the importance of continuing to build and strengthen the party to maintain the people's confidence. Vice-president Johari Abdul Ghani cautioned against arrogance following BN's state election wins, urging the party to work hard, address weaknesses, and maintain the people's confidence. Supreme Council member Shamsul Anuar Nasarah highlighted the focus on solidarity among leaders to tackle a dynamic political landscape.

Zambry Abd Kadir confirmed no specific discussion on external political cooperation, emphasizing adherence to party guidelines and strengthening party machinery for the 16th General Election. Negeri Sembilan Umno Liaison Committee chairman Jalaluddin Alias stressed the importance of internal unity for the party's success in upcoming elections.
