UCL: Liverpool rally past Atletico as Sporting stun Galatasaray 3-1 in Lisbon

Liverpool secured a comeback victory over Atletico Madrid in their UEFA Champions League opener, while Sporting CP stunned Galatasaray with a 3-1 win in Lisbon. In Anfield, Liverpool rebounded from Marcos Llorente's first-half goal to defeat Atletico 2-1, with Dominik Szoboszlai and Alexis Mac Allister scoring either side of halftime.

Atletico took the lead in the 17th minute when Llorente capitalized on a mistake by Ronald Araújo. Liverpool equalized in the 40th minute through Szoboszlai, and Mac Allister secured the win in the 44th minute after Ngumoha's assist. Liverpool held on to their lead despite a late Atletico push. In Lisbon, Galatasaray took an early lead against Sporting through Lucas Torreira in the sixth minute.

Sporting levelled in the 27th minute with Geny Catamo's own-goal and sealed the win via Luis Suarez's penalty and Rodrigo Zalazar's free-kick.
