U.S. investigators provide update on deadly Amazon plane crash

Miami-Dade Sheriff's Office releases names of victims in Amazon cargo plane crash

Five people were killed and five others injured when an Amazon cargo plane crashed at Miami International Airport on Sunday, according to the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB). All of the victims were in two vehicles that were hit during the collision, with the NTSB reporting that the flight, Amazon Air Flight 7598, overran runway 30, struck navigational aids, and then crashed into a 2012 white Ford Econoline van and a Toyota Corolla Cross LE.

The NTSB Chair, Jennifer Homendy, identified the victims of the deadly crash as Rolando Aleman Leon, 55; Yoel Rodriguez Naranjo, 53; Julio C. Pineda, 75; Carlos Acosta Fajardo, 53; and Javierkys Reyes Quevedo, 47. The five injured individuals were Eugenio Corredor, 79; Ridoel Averhoff Diaz, 32; Roosevelt Sebastian Perdomo Torres, 36; Jaime Felipe Silva Molina, 37; and Joseph Carroll, 55.

Homendy explained that all five victims killed in the crash were passengers in the vehicles hit by the plane. The van was inside the airport grounds, while the Toyota was parked outside. The passengers in the van included the pilot, Joseph Carroll, and co-pilot, Jaime Felipe Silva Molina, both of whom were treated and released from a Miami hospital.
