St. Francis College hosts conference on emerging technologies, sustainability

Doha, Qatar - The Public Works Authority (Ashghal) has finalized the sustainability audit for the Qatar University College of Medicine and Health Sciences building, confirming its compliance with Global Sustainability Assessment System (GSAS) design requirements. This audit is part of Ashghal's dedication to adhering to the highest sustainability standards in its building and educational facilities projects.

The project aims for a 4-star GSAS Design & Build certification, surpassing its initial goal of 3 stars. This higher rating signifies an elevated level of sustainability incorporated into the building's design and construction. The final audit encompassed a thorough technical inspection by Ashghal, the Gulf Organisation for Research and Development (GORD), the project's consultant, and main contractor.

The inspection aimed to validate the implementation of sustainability requirements and assess the works' compliance with GSAS certification criteria.

Achieving this targeted rating is a result of the integration of various sustainability solutions and standards. These include enhanced energy and water efficiency, the use of sustainable materials, reduced environmental impact, improved indoor environmental quality, and better operational and management efficiency. These measures collectively create a more comfortable, healthier, and environmentally friendly learning environment for users while simultaneously minimizing resource and energy consumption, and reducing long-term operation and maintenance costs.

Moreover, the sustainability standards applied to the project contribute to the building's performance throughout its lifespan.
