Sindh Assembly resolution against division of province sent to federal govt

The Sindh Assembly unanimously adopted a resolution on Tuesday demanding the Centre abolish the petroleum levy tax. The resolution was moved by Jamaat-i-Islami lawmaker Muhammad Farooq, who highlighted the additional levies imposed on petrol and diesel, which have contributed to inflation and placed a burden on the public. Law and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Ziaul Hasan Lanjar stated that the matter is solely under the jurisdiction of the federal government and that the provincial government cannot abolish the tax.

The resolution called for immediate relief to the public by the federal government. However, the proceedings were disrupted by opposition lawmakers from the Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan, who protested against the term "Sindhudesh" and accused treasury members of running video clips on their social media.
