#SHOWBIZ: National Symphony Orchestra pays musical tribute to maestro Aubrey Suwito

KUALA LUMPUR: The National Symphony Orchestra (NSO) is organizing a special event to pay tribute to renowned Malaysian pop composer Aubrey Suwito. The NSO with Aubrey Suwito: Pop Meets Symphony will showcase 16 of his hit compositions over two hours at the National Theatre. The concert, taking place on October 2 and 3, aims to highlight Suwito's artistic excellence and significant contributions to the Malaysian music industry since the 1980s.

Istana Budaya deputy director-general Johan Md Nordin stated that Suwito's selection is particularly fitting due to his numerous achievements and international impact. NSO conductor Eric Lee emphasized that this event honors a distinguished figure in the country's music composition scene, highlighting his immense contributions to the nation.

Suwito, a Master of Creative Arts (MOCA) graduate from Berklee College of Music, has garnered 26 Anugerah Industri Muzik (AIM) awards, including Best Album of the Year and Best Pop Album Producer. He has collaborated with international music stars such as David Foster and Kris Dayanti, and has achieved success with numerous top accolades for his work, including Anugerah Juara Lagu 20 and World Star Quest (2008) for the song "Memori Tercipta" performed by Shila Amzah.

The concert will feature Suwito's compositions brought to life by local singers Ernie Zakri, Syamel Fodzly, and Shiha Zikir, as they create a magical experience for the audience. Tickets, ranging from RM78 to RM259, can be purchased through Cloudjoi.
