UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan arrived in Germany on Wednesday for a state visit, meeting German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier and Chancellor Friedrich Merz. The visit is expected to focus on strengthening cooperation, especially in economic and development sectors, as part of their strategic partnership. The two sides are also anticipated to discuss regional and international developments of mutual concern, including Gaza, Iran, and Gulf security issues.
The trip marks a significant shift in the relationship since Sheikh Mohamed's last visit in 2019, when tensions were calmer and the agenda primarily focused on tolerance and preventing extremism. Today, the partnership is expected to move towards a more multi-dimensional strategic alliance.
