8 Arab, Islamic countries welcome UK Government decision to ban import of goods from illegal Israeli settlements in the Occupied Palestinian Territory

Doha, Qatar - Foreign Ministers from eight Arab and Islamic nations have welcomed the United Kingdom's decision to ban imports of goods from illegal Israeli settlements in the Occupied Palestinian Territory. The ministers expressed hope this move would encourage the international community to follow suit, in line with international law and relevant UN resolutions, including the 2016 UN Security Council resolution 2334 and the International Court of Justice's 2024 advisory opinion.

The ministers also welcomed a joint statement by 12 other countries, confirming their commitment to introduce national and/or support European restrictions on trade with illegal settlements. They encouraged the global community to build on these steps and take concrete measures to end activities supporting illegal Israeli settlements.

The ministers emphasized that these actions align with international law and the International Court of Justice's 2024 opinion, which obligates states not to recognize the situation created by Israel's occupation or provide aid or assistance in maintaining it. They called on Israel to revoke all settlement-related measures and urged Gaza, being an integral part of the Occupied Palestinian Territory, to fully implement President Trump's Comprehensive Plan for ending the Gaza conflict.

The ministers reiterated their belief that the only way to achieve a just and lasting peace is through the implementation of the two-State solution, with an independent, sovereign, contiguous, and viable Palestinian State based on the 1967 borders and Jerusalem as its capital.
