Russia Strikes Shopping Mall in Sumy, Killing Three, as Zelenskyy Reports Five Dead Nationwide From Attacks on Kyiv, Sumy, and Mykolaiv

Russian forces launched a targeted drone attack on a shopping center in Sumy, Ukraine, resulting in the deaths of three people and wounding 14 others, including three children, according to local officials. The strike occurred around 8:00 p.m. as residents were returning from work and shopping. Cars in the parking lot caught fire, and the building sustained significant damage.

City military administration head Oleh Hryhorov confirmed the deaths, stating that four of the injured are in serious condition. Emergency crews continued to work at the scene, and authorities warned of potential further strikes, urging residents to stay away from the impact area and seek shelter. President Volodymyr Zelenskyy reported five fatalities across Ukraine from recent Russian attacks in Kyiv, Sumy, and Mykolaiv.

In Sumy, the initial toll was three dead, later revised to three. In Kyiv, one person was killed and seven injured, including two children, after a drone strike on a high-rise residential building. In Mykolaiv, Russian forces launched a large-scale assault overnight, resulting in two deaths and seven injuries. Zelenskyy appealed to Ukraine's allies to intensify efforts for de-escalation and assistance in halting Russian strikes.

This attack follows a series of recent strikes on civilian transport, which killed a woman and wounded several others, including train passengers.
