Qatar Museums champions protection of archaeological sites at Suhail exhibition

Doha, Qatar - Qatar Museums (QM) is emphasizing the significance of safeguarding the nation's archaeological heritage through a focused awareness initiative at the Suhail 2026 exhibition, set to occur from September 8 to 12 at Katara Cultural Village.

Under the leadership of QM's Archaeology and Heritage Department, the Qatar Museums pavilion (exhibits B34-B35) aims to expose visitors to the country's rich archaeological past and educate them on the collective duty to preserve these invaluable sites for future generations.

The exhibition will showcase informational and visual resources, along with targeted awareness activities, to underscore the efforts invested in documenting, researching, and preserving archaeological sites. It will also shed light on the potential threats these sites face and encourage actions that could mitigate those risks.

This campaign is part of QM's broader initiative to protect Qatar's cultural heritage, safeguard national identity, and ensure the preservation of historical sites for posterity. Director of Archaeology at Qatar Museums, Faisal Abdulla Al Naimi, stated, "Our involvement in the Suhail Exhibition provides a unique chance to interact with the public and underscore the shared responsibility in preserving our heritage.

Archaeological sites are far more than mere relics of the past; they are vital components of our national identity and collective memory, and their conservation ensures they are passed down to future generations."
