Pune Police Warn Strict Action Over Noise, Provocative Posts Ahead Of Ganeshotsav

As the celebration of Ganeshotsav commences in Pune on September 14, the city's police and civic administration are ramping up preparations to ensure a seamless event with smooth traffic management and adequate civic facilities. An extensive on-site inspection was conducted by Pune Police Commissioner Amitesh Kumar and senior civic officials to assess security measures and address concerns raised by Ganesh mandals. Kumar assured the public that all pending issues would be resolved within the next two to three days.

Kumar expressed confidence that the festival would be celebrated with enthusiasm and in a peaceful manner. Traffic management plans have been devised, especially in the central areas of the city, where heavy vehicles will be prohibited during the festival period. The police have warned about noise pollution and the use of high-powered sound systems during processions and celebrations.

They emphasized that the noise limits agreed upon with Ganesh mandals and political parties will be strictly enforced. Mandals are permitted to use only four bass and four top speakers; plasma speakers and pressure horns will not be allowed, and violations will result in police action.

The police have already taken action against those violating noise regulations during Dahi Handi celebrations and indicated that similar actions will be taken during Ganeshotsav. Additionally, the police have issued a stern warning against making provocative or inflammatory statements on social media. They emphasized that anyone making irresponsible comments could face 100 percent action, and they urged everyone to abide by the law and communicate within its boundaries.

If any statement is likely to incite communal tension or offend a particular section of society, the police would register a case.
