Proclamation to remove ruler was signed under duress, says Negeri Sembilan MB

Negeri Sembilan's Chief Minister Ismail Lasim has stated that he was compelled to sign a proclamation aiming to remove Tuanku Muhriz as the state ruler. In a statement, Ismail disclosed that he signed the document unwillingly and under coercion. He promptly lodged a police report around 6pm the previous day to facilitate an investigation.

Four undangs convened a press conference last night, presenting a document purportedly containing the proclamation to remove Tuanku Muhriz. The document, dated August 3, was purportedly signed by Ismail and the four chieftains. However, Ismail dismissed the validity of the document, deeming it invalid, unconstitutional, and unenforceable.

The state government contends that the said instrument does not adhere to the processes and procedures outlined under Article 10 of the Laws of the Constitution of Negeri Sembilan 1959. Consequently, the state executive council deliberated on forming a peace committee to resolve the adat issue in a harmonious, prudent, and consensus-driven manner.

Ismail reiterated his allegiance to Tuanku Muhriz, emphasizing his support and loyalty to the ruler.
