Prime Minister Calls on S. Korea, Africa to Pursue Shared Prosperity through AI

South Korea's Prime Minister Han Seong-sook has called for collaborative prosperity between South Korea and African nations as artificial intelligence (AI) and digital technologies undergo rapid transformation, as reported by Yonhap news agency on September 9. During a speech at the Korea-Africa Economic Cooperation (KOAFEC) ministerial meeting, which South Korea has hosted annually since 2006, Han emphasized Africa's vast potential, noting the continent's 1.5 billion people and significant mineral resources.

Recognizing South Korea and Africa as vital partners, Han stressed that the two nations should collaborate to achieve shared prosperity in the era of AI. She highlighted South Korea's commitment to AI transformation through its three megaprojects initiative, which focuses on semiconductors, physical AI, AI data centers, and AI-driven administrative innovation.

Han stated that sharing these experiences will accelerate Africa's digital transformation and serve as a powerful force for the continent's advancement. She concluded by quoting an African proverb, stating that the Republic of Korea will move forward together with Africa as a true partner, emphasizing the importance of joining forces for mutual growth.
