Police uncover RM2.4b drug operation in Puncak Alam, seize 13.17 tonnes in biggest haul this year

KUALA SELANGOR, Sept 9 — Police have dismantled a drug processing and distribution network and discovered a drug laboratory in Puncak Alam, Selangor, through Operation Eumenes conducted across Selangor and Kuala Lumpur. The total value of the seized drugs is estimated at RM2.4 billion, marking the largest drug seizure of the year.

Three local men and one foreign couple, aged between 29 and 43, were arrested during six separate raids in Kuala Lumpur and Selangor. Bukit Aman Narcotics Criminal Investigation Department (NCID) director Datuk Hussein Omar Khan revealed that the drugs seized included cannabis, Erimin 5, ketamine, yaba, and methamphetamine, along with machinery believed to have been used for drug processing.

The syndicate, believed to have been active since February, reportedly imported drugs and equipment from China, which were then smuggled into Malaysia. Police found a container linked to the syndicate's modus operandi inside the drug laboratory premises. The syndicate leader is believed to have been shot dead in a previous raid in Seremban.

One of the suspects, a Taiwanese individual, was found to have acted as the chemist and entered the country four times. Despite several suspects yet to be apprehended, including one who allegedly fled the country, police are also investigating potential agency insider involvement. The syndicate is suspected to be linked to a kidnapping case in Selangor in July, where a man was rescued and six individuals were arrested in a ransom demand case.
